Grandad’s Chairs

I always feel so lucky when I get the opportunity to take on vintage, inherited pieces. Not only does keeping inherited furniture reduce your carbon footprint and lessen the number of trees cut down, but more importantly it helps to make your house more homely. Your home is a reflection of you and your personality, and what better way to show off a bit about you by keeping key pieces for multiple generations.

These chairs belonged to the client’s grandparents, and when they sadly passed away they were handed down. Originally made in the 1950s these chairs were looking a little worse for wear. However, being Parker Knoll, an excellent, British-made brand, the frames were sturdy and with some love and some new fabric these chairs were ready to be loved by the next generation. On this occasion, we decided not to sand down and remove the scuff marks from the legs, instead deciding to leave them as a reminder of times gone by. We hope these chairs are loved by many more generations to come.

Wingback Chair

When this chair came to us it the fabric was tired, old fashioned and worn through but it was clear that it had a lovely shape and bags of potential. The client chose a stylish grey fabric that beatufily compliments the interior of their lounge and now this chair has bags of life left in it.

Anniversary Coasters

The client asked for eight coasters as an anniversary gift to their wife- two of each of their dogs, one of their home, and one with lyrics from the song they played as their first dance at their wedding. The coasters are made of solid oak and backed with felt feet.

Client feedback- “They’re lovely, thank you.”

Geometric Curtains

The client asked for curtains and two matching cushions that would compliment the furniture in the room and not clash with his rug. Together we settled on a mustard yellow theme that would match the gorgeous wing backed chair they already owned and a throw on the sofa. The large print adds interest and colour to the room whilst not clashing with the busy pattern of the carpet.

Client feedback- “Five stars- really happy with the curtains!”
